The biggest winner here is the oil and gas industry.
And that is because now consumers are going to be spending a lot more money on fuel.
Consumers were actually set to save something along the lines of $60 billion a year in fuel because of those regulations.
Those are now wiped out.
So the auto industry, it's going to be a lot up to individual manufacturers now on how
they take this moving forward.
They could still continue to try to innovate and invest, but there's a lot less incentive to do so right now.
I think it's quite likely that we're going to see, yeah, some sort of retrenchment from the auto manufacturers.
It's really too bad because my organization works globally.
So if you take a step back for a second and look at the big picture, the EV transition is coming.
25% of the vehicles that were sold across the world were electric vehicles.
That's up from like less than 5%, just five years before that.
So it's very clear to anyone that's sort of looking big picture and globally that this transition is happening.
So I think the question for the auto manufacturers is, do you want to be a leader or do you want to be a laggard?
And it seems to me that by like rolling back these and some of these investments, maybe they might make some shorter term investments.
Consumers want the best technology at the lowest price.
And what we're seeing is in many markets, the costs of electric vehicles, because of the fact that the cost of battery packs have decreased so substantially just in the last 10 plus years, that now the cost of electric vehicles is...
has actually come down to either be equivalent or in some cases even below the costs of an internal combustion engine.
And then that coupled with the fact that electric vehicles are actually a better technology, they're easier to maintain, they're quieter and more responsive to drive.
There's many, many advantages that they have over the very old technology, which is internal combustion engines.
