Irene also had started nursing school at the College of Western Idaho at this time.
While living in Idaho, this is also when Irene met her then boyfriend Nate Heitman through, I believe, a Craigslist dating forum.
It's mostly been reported that it was through a Craigslist dating forum, but I've also just seen it said as an online dating platform.
Either way, she met him online.
The two had been dating since 2020 and they seemed to have an on-again-off-again type of relationship.
They had broken up a couple of times, but they always seemed to find their way back to one another.
According to Irene's brother Kennedy, the brothers had met Nate a couple of times and he had been over to their house one or two times before.
From the outside, Kennedy said that he didn't necessarily like Nate and didn't like them as a couple.
They thought that Nate was a little bit manipulative and controlling over her.
He said that it got to the point where it seemed to Kennedy like Nate had told Irene that they couldn't keep dating if Irene was living with her brothers.
So after some time, Irene did ultimately move in with Nate so that they could continue dating.
The two lived together in Boise for some time before they actually moved to Gillette, Wyoming in July of 2021.
Around the same time, Irene also transferred to the Gillette Community College to continue nursing school.
It was said that she didn't necessarily want to make this big move, but this was something that Nate wanted, so she kind of just went with him to be supportive of him.
At this time, Irene's parents didn't actually know that she was dating anybody.
She never mentioned it, and I don't think her brothers mentioned it either.

But after moving to Wyoming, her family, including her brothers and her parents, they started to notice her absence a lot more.
