And then here's the evidence that suggested that she wasn't.
And he said that he found a lot more evidence to suggest that she wasn't psychotic.
So yeah, so one of his key points for why he did not believe that she was psychotic is because he said that she had never heard the male voice telling her to harm the children and herself before that day that she did it.
In fact, he said that she only experienced it for the eighteen minutes or so that it took to cull the children.
And he's saying that that specific time frame, you know, the not hearing a voice before and not hearing a voice after would be very, very unusual to happen in a case of psychosis.
But not only did that speak to her state, it also really hammered home what the state says.

Yeah, so you'll remember that earlier in the trial we mentioned in one of the other episodes that the defense objected when the prosecution had asked Patrick's mother, Sue Cancy, whether she was aware that murder is a mortal sin in the Catholic Church, which she is, of course, an active member of.
Now we know that, you know, under Massachusetts law, a witness's religious beliefs or opinions are not admissible to attack or support.

And of course that's something that this very experienced prosecution team is aware of.
So the jury had been told to disregard that question.
But that issue and that very phrase came up yet again in Dr.
Hilburn's testimony.

The words that Lindsay Carnese said that she said to her children as she killed them.
So there was a tense moment as the judge spoke to both sides at the sidebar.
