So this is where the stream picks back up, but the start of what the judge was saying was slightly cut off.

So you were aware.

So I can fill in some of the gaps for you there.

I was obviously in the courtroom when that went down.

And it was very much a, you know, the reaction in the courtroom was one of shock.

I mean, jurors looked up and seemed a bit stunned by her questioning of that.

Then Judge William Sullivan told the jury that that would be struck.

and that they should disregard that comment entirely.

So we've looked into this and there is a section of the Massachusetts Guide to Evidence which says that a witness's religious beliefs or opinions are not admissible to attack or support that witness's credibility.

So that then raised questions as to whether the defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, could seek a mistrial because of those comments.

So that was an interesting discussion.

side thing that went on i asked kevin reddington about that and he said no the judges addressed it by getting it struck and he was very firm he did not ask for a mistrial and also said you know why would i want a mistrial like we don't need to do this trial again and

I mean, that is the big question.

That's something that I think all of us in the room were kind of wondering.

Obviously, this is a grieving grandmother who has lost her three grandchildren and, you know, her family has been torn apart by this.

So it was a very...

curious tactic for the prosecution to, you know, seemingly attack her in that way.

And the Clancy's are very faith-filled people.

In fact, her priest was there in the courtroom to support her, along with her husband, while she gave this testimony.
