And...

It was a different world, totally.

So I wound up on welfare, and I got some money from them, and they found me a place to go.

I went to a shelter downtown.

And they found me a place.

I say it's a Martinique Hotel, which is not far from here.

49 West 32nd Street.

I lived there for several years.

And I was looking for work.

So I see there was a newsstand right across from the hotel.

And on the weekends, I see these guys, the two brothers, are collating newspapers.

Sunday Times, Sunday Daily News.

And so I said...

I need a job.

I need something to do.

He says, oh, yeah.

Yeah, we can use a helper.

I said, okay.

So what I did was they gave me the papers, and I used to collate them for them, and they gave me like $75 to $80 a week, which was good money in those days.
