And we wondered, how did they find the program?
The internet, of course.
They googled it and found travel and tourism in one of the greatest cities in the world.
And the thousands of students that we had through the program, I can guarantee you, every one of them went home as an ambassador to the United States.
but more than that, super ambassadors for the city of San Francisco.
Not one student went home without tears in their eyes, and many of them do come back.
I just want to tell you one example.
Scott and I talked about it, hundreds and hundreds of examples.
And the students stay in touch, which is something that is very, very heartwarming.
For anyone who's taught, you teach, you think you do a good job, the student leaves out into the world, and then you don't know.
But we had this one student who was late to class one evening.
And after class, he came up and apologized.
And I said, well, things happen.
I didn't know if he'd gotten stuck in traffic or what.
And he said, no, that his advisor for the Fulbright committee had been late.
Now, I didn't know I had a Fulbright scholar in my classroom.
Turns out there were two, one from Pakistan and one from Panama.
And the student from Pakistan was a college graduate, had come to the program to get the two-year A Associated Arts degree to help run what his great-grandfather had started as a hunting lodge way up by K2 Mountain at the border of Pakistan and China.
And this two-room hunting cottage had developed into a 10-room hotel that he and his brothers were running.
