So um, you know, in the original study we did report on the washing and more than ninety percent of people said they wash their mask every day.
So we reported that and we didn't look at it in any more detail, but we hypothesized what could be the r you know, we on a on a scientific level you have to

Having some kind of physical barrier should help to some degree.
Um so what could be the factors that have resulted in the cloth mask looking so bad in this study?
Could be that the um
the cloth masks were allocated to more high risk wards.
So we looked at that in this reanalysis and that wasn't the case.
That didn't explain it.
Another explanation could be that people who said they washed their mask every day actually didn't.
And they didn't want to tell us.
So they lied.
Um and a third explanation was about the actual quality of the washing.
So
Most people wash their hair a mask by hand.
But um some washed it in the hospital laundry, so in in proper washing machines.
And what we found was that the people who hand washed the mask had double the risk of infection than the people who machine washed it and the machine washed mask users
um were as well protected as someone wearing a surgical mask.
Um, probably the the thoroughness of the wash as well as the temperature may be s the use of soap.
