So I was actually acting as crime scene manager before I got promoted.

But the promotion happened after the merge with FSI.

So I didn't actually perform the role as crime scene manager as a sergeant.

I remember one particular case, I'm sure it happens to everyone, where I went as a crime scene manager on a job, but the fingerprint expert couldn't stay on the job.

And we knew that at the start.

So then I had to take over the role as the examiner.

Yeah.

And still perform the duties of crime scene manager.

And yeah, things can get complicated and you just have to like be calm and think about everything that you're doing.

Yeah.

Well, you remember the approach for, you arrive at a scene as part of a team and always the routine was the photographer on the team carried out his duties, recorded all the establishment shots, all the route into, if the body was still in situ.

Mm-hmm.

recorded absolutely everything he could with regard to that scene.

The ballistics guy will be doing the trace evidence.

Again, every scene is different, whether it be a car or house or windows or whatever else, or a body just in a field.

And there has to be a methodical approach to say, we often did bodies in the middle of a field.

We can think of a few straight away.

You were thinking about foot marks in the hood, everything else.

There might be all sorts of evidence that will be around the scene.

So everything had to be done in a structured way.
