And as a fingerprint examiner, you're there to examine for fingerprints.

You're also looking around.

So the point I was going to make was that as the fingerprint examiner, you're letting those other guys and ladies, whatever, on the team do their work.

So you're actually standing back waiting.

Yeah.

Because there is a lot of waiting.

We can't do any of our powdering or chemical work because it's destructive.

So we have to wait for all the other particular ballistics to be finished there before we can actually go out of part of the scene.

Like, very often at postmortems, I stayed out.

I didn't go in until the very, very end.

Or on occasion, I went back the following day.

Yeah.

And take a set of fingerprints.

I met John when I was actually a student in Store Street because I was curious about bodies and death because my dad passed away when I was six.

So I always wondered about what happened.

And as a student in Store Street or beside the old city morgue and the coroner's court,

And I went in one day when he was doing postmortems.

They weren't state cases, so it wasn't like I was breaching a crime scene.

I actually went in a few times during that six-month period to look at a few different bodies that were victims of murder after the postmortem had happened, you know, so...

So I thought it would be good for me at an early stage in my career to get used to seeing bodies.
