And security ends up stopping him, and they find the handguns in his suitcase.

And so, bam, he gets arrested.

However, a few hours later, he gets released.

And he only has to pay a small fine.

I guess laws just weren't as strict about guns in the airport back then.

But now, John has a new problem.

Police have confiscated all his guns.

But no worries.

Four days later, he goes to a pawn shop and he buys some more.

Now, here's where it gets even crazier.

So the presidential election happens, right?

And Jimmy Carter actually loses to his opponent, Ronald Reagan.

And John, see, he's still trying to get Jody's attention.

So now he's not going to target a former president like Carter.

He wants to assassinate the sitting president.

So his target shifts from Carter to Reagan.

And of course, he feels like he needs to update Jodi during all this and let her know what he's about to do.

So he sends her a postcard of Reagan's inauguration and he writes some cryptic bulls**t on it about, one day you and I will occupy the White House.
