And at the end of the day, where are we left with?
What is the discussion?
Is that question of inequality and the whole issue around the potential sort of joblessness rates?
It's been a really, really sensitive topic for Beijing.
So far, the actual unemployment figures look OK.
They look like they're sort of holding up.
But that area, when we think about youth unemployment, that's a sort of particularly positively vulnerable area.
Yeah, I think Walter makes a really important point that we have seen markets essentially interpret this meeting as basically as hawkish.
And that is sort of increasing expectations of a rate hike later this year.
But I would just add the other sort of interesting thing that really stood out to me about this meeting was that it wasn't necessarily about changing rates at this point, but it seems to be more about changing the actual Fed.
You know, we did see Walsh signaling this much tougher stance on inflation and opening the door to future hikes, but also like fundamentally how the central bank actually communicates.
So we saw, for example, in that statement that came from the Fed, it was much shorter than usual.
We saw Walsh explain that his own sort of position and perspective on this sort of so-called dot plot.
That's essentially how we visualize all the sort of different opinions for people.
in the meeting themselves for all the governors.
We saw his was missing from that dot plot.
And he talked about this plan at the end of this year, essentially to kind of overhaul how all of that happens.
And that actually would be quite a big shift if we started or we stopped rather seeing sort of forward looking guidance from the Fed.
Markets would have to operate in a kind of fundamentally different way.
Well, to me, also still a China story, but kind of against the backdrop of the G7 set of meetings that we've had.
