I actually think that we are the perfect people to be discussing this cult because Amanda and I grew up in the first wave of Y2K and Reese is a part of the second wave resurgence of Y2K.
Your world opened up.

Shout out to the cult of American girls for influencing you at such a prime age.
I mean, Y2K for me, I don't think of it as Y2K, the aesthetic, the brand, the oomph, the title.
I just think of it as the era of my youth because I came of age in Y2K.
So when I think of Y2K, I think of like,
the painful, embarrassing experience of being a tween girl, which is why Pen15 was such an important show for me, because there is such a extreme dissonance of wanting more than anything in the world to grow up as fast as possible, but also just being unable to understand quite how young you really are.
It's something that you can only experience when you're looking back,
on it, which is why it's so fun to talk about it now that we see Y2K as this, I don't know, romanticized, nostalgic, wanderlust.
