That's the beauty of this country, right?

Is that you can say what you want to say.

you don't have the right to hurt anyone, but you can say what you want to say.

And as much as we don't like it sometimes, that is the beauty of this country.

And I think what the calling right now is for the president, you know, he's rejecting uniting the country.

And I think it is still possible for us to come together and fight the things that are anti-American.

So the theft of our intellectual property,

Running drugs across our borders, stealing our ideas, hacking into our electrical systems.

To me, vaccines, making sure that we are not subject to public health crises.

the cost of prescription drugs.

There are real issues in this country that need to be fought, that he could be leading on.

And instead, he's waging a war, an internal war in this country that is expensive and, quite frankly, unproductive.

So here's what we learned in Portland during the George Floyd protests.

I was the chair of the state judiciary committee, the House Judiciary Committee.

And, you know, I had the police asking me, like, what do we do to, you know, get these violent protests to go away?

And or riots, as they as they were calling them.

And I said, you relieve the grievance.

And you deescalate.

And so that's the approach that we've taken.

And Portland has been a center of being able to deescalate and to be able to have people express their First Amendment rights.
