And he's written an epic book.

And because of his understanding of the landscape that we're dealing with, we wanted him on this panel.

Because I don't know anyone that has written with more insight and research than Jonathan Mailer has in this book, The Gods of New York.

And last but not least, he's the president of the National Negro Publishers Association of Black Newspapers.

Many are under challenge.

Part of our mandate, we met our board this morning, is we need to escalate pressure on the corporate world about advertising in black media.

But before that, this man has been a legendary, iconic civil rights activist.

In his youth, he went to jail with the Wilmington 10.

He became the president of the NAACP.

He was the convener, the organizer of the Million Man March, largest black march in history.

And he has earned the stripes of being a general in this movement.

But let me tell you something.

In the late 80s, when I was a lot more controversial, before Jonathan Mailer wrote his book,

And folk understood I wasn't all the way crazy.
