The new coroner's findings were a massive relief.
The new findings might have helped move some of the suspicion away from Toby.
But the inquest brought no relief for the Strobel family.
After the findings came out, the Strobel family released a statement saying they'd been let down by the findings of the second coronial inquest.
They'd wanted the second inquest to happen.
But after the hearings
They decided the new coroner should stick with some of the key findings from 2007.
They felt the original finding on Toby was correct.
That there was a very strong suspicion that Toby Moran was involved in Simone's death.
The Strobels also said the police in Australia and Germany had done a very thorough and competent job.
And they continued to hope that one day they would learn the truth about what happened to Simone.
It's important to stress that Simone Strobel's parents, Gabi and Gustav, still do not accept that Toby is telling the truth.
Until recently, all I knew about the Strobel family's views was what I'd found in public statements they'd made over the years.
I'd contacted them a few times when I first started working on this story.
