She says a wave of grief passed through her town after Simone's death.
Jenny says some people were worried a local could be responsible.
When people found out where Simone had been found, they started leaving flowers and candles for her.
I've seen pictures from the time.
There were tributes with handwritten notes stacked all along the chain link fence.
The local paper ran articles almost every day about Simone and the investigation.
And then, Jenny says people turned their sympathy for the backpackers into action.
It all started with a chance encounter at the travel agents.
