So moving house, it may be an incentive, but of course you've got to make a big effort to move house.

So it's swings and roundabouts.

You've got to trade them off and make a decision on that basis.

Now, there is a deeper mystery here, I think, and it is why do the birds not have feathers on their tarsi?

Remember, birds are all... On their what, excuse me?

Their tarsi are the parts of the bare parts of the legs.

It's actually part of the wrist of the bird, if you like.

But anyway, these tarsi are bare in most birds, though not in all.

Birds always want to cover up because heat loss is a big problem.

You're losing heat from your legs and your feet.

So logic would say, well, cover up this bloomin' thing because it's looting heat on us.

And some birds do.

For instance, you take the eagles.

The golden eagle has a feather.

He covers up his legs.

It looks lovely as a result.

The white-tailed eagle, the fish eagle, the sea eagle, it does not.

It has bare legs.

Now, I suspect that it has bare legs simply because jumping into the water with a big heavy thing would get waterlogged.

So there is a predisposition in eagles perhaps to have feathered tarsy rather than the bare tarsy.
