Now this extraordinary cat.
We are familiar with it in this country because we've had snow leopards in Dublin Zoo for many years.
But they're very shy there.
They have a large compound, but they don't come down like some of the other big cats do, right to the glass where you can look at them in the eye.
But this is, in fact, a strange species, a very strange species to us.
Is it actually a leopard or is it a version of the tiger?
Now, that must be a defense against prey noticing them.
They have no enemies up there, have they?
If you go to the Galapagos, for instance, where animals didn't encounter people...
They are quite forward.
They don't worry about you.
They don't respond to you.
Well, now, the Himalaya, likewise, must be a very remote place where there are very few people.
And yet this cat has developed this tremendous camouflage to hide.
What could it be hiding from if it is?
Wolves then do occasionally attack snow leopards.
