Are they in any sense territorial then?

Is it an open system where a leopard will roam randomly, or does it carve out some kind of a territory, a huge territory probably in this case?

Now, the blue sheep, of course, is his chief diet.

He loves to eat the blue sheep.

But it seems to me if I were a snow leopard, I would be very tempted to invade a livestock and take the odd cow or sheep or whatever they have out there.

Is this a problem?

And how do the locals respond to that?

Is there resentment of the leopard?

You seem to suggest that the locals respect this animal, which seems to protect it, does it?

The other element when you think of people is the modern one.

People like me who travel to places like Mongolia and India and want to see all these wonderful things and want to twitch, if that's the word, a snow leopard.

They want to see one, to record one.

And they want to get their cameras out with long lenses and see them.

Now, this, on the one hand, will be a case for the protection of snow leopards, but on the other hand, it is an intrusion.

Even the camera crews, I've seen films, and to cut the footage in them must have involved close encounters with snow leopards.

Are we damaging them?

Is tourism damaging them?

Is the public profile they get good or bad?

So you're not entirely against tourism.

It's a question of regulating it and exploiting it to the best advantage, I think.
