There is a kind of a natural distribution.

I'm thinking of the Caledonian pine forest.

They must be full of red squirrels still.

Up in Aberdeen, which is an arid, I know Aberdeen well, I've used to go there, but it's us.

It's an artificial entity like all our cities are.

And of course, an artificial species like the grey squirrel is tolerable there.

But in the pine forest, that's the true Scotland.

The red must be king and the greys don't get a look in.

The red, in a sense, is a reintroduced species in Ireland, isn't it?

There's an act going away back 1662, the reign of Charles II, about the export of skins.

The thing had almost become extinct here.

And we reintroduced our red squirrels from Scotland.

And this idea of one is native and the other is an alien kind of thing shouldn't be here.
