this extraordinary cat um
We are familiar with it in this country because we've had snow leopards in Dublin Zoo for many years.
But they're very shy there.
They have a large compound, but they don't come down like some of the other big cats do, right to the glass where you can look at them in the in the eye.
But uh this is in fact a strange species to a very strange species to us.
Shepherd or is it a version of the tiger?
Now i that must be uh a a defense against prey noticing them rather.
There's they have no enemies up there, have they?
Uh if you take something like if you go to the Galapagos, for instance, where b animals didn't encounter people, they are uh quite forward.
They don't b worry about you, they don't respond to you.
Well now, the Himalaya
m likewise must be a very remote place where there are very few people, and yet this cat has developed this tremendous camouflage to hide.
What could it be hiding from, if it is?
Wolves then do occasionally attack snow leopards.
There's a totally different approach to life.
They're pack animals, they hunt cooperatively.
The snow leopard, it seems to me, is a totally isolated character.
He's a a hermus.
Uh so they hunt in very different ways.
