Not surprised at all, and it's something that's probably a positive for Ross Atkins and John Schneider to learn, or to learn firsthand, because there's no way when you're losing, when your big guy hasn't hit a home run at home all year, when you can't come back from when you're four runs down, five runs down,
You learned that the clubhouse only reacted to the wins last year, and they had a bunch of mentors who were participating.
Max Scherzer, they had guys that were out there that were doing well.
When those same guys aren't doing well, and they're the key to the spirit in your clubhouse, George Spring, a perfect example.
It's kind of hard to have him being the gung-ho guy in the clubhouse when he's struggling to put numbers together that are even close to what he did last year.
Yeah, there were a couple of key clues to the fact that this would not be the same type of clubhouse at spring training and as opening day arrived.
You had Max Scherzer, whose daughter sent a letter to get him a job with the Blue Jays.
And that sounds all so sweet and good, and he's done at 42 years old.
But she should be agent of the year.
They should have an awards banquet for her.
Jose Barrios, who's still got them on the hook for a $24 million player option for the next two years.
I mean, I haven't heard his name mentioned at all since spring training.
