I think that's part of it.
But you know, I just think that academics like to be academics and salespeople want to make money.
misunderstanding of sales really became an obstacle for people trying to pinch themselves because they're now the product trying to pinch themselves for a job yes 100 right like that's that's the way it works right is that you you're always pitching yourself one way or the other it's not a dirty word right like the there's a chapter in steinbeck's the grapes of wrath and he talks about the jodes going to buy a car when they're leaving to go to california
And there's a whole chapter and it's dedicated to the fast talking used car salesman who's lying about the quality of the car, the quality of the tires, the whole thing.
And I read that a couple of years ago.
We read it a couple of years ago.
I'm like, that's where this used car salesman thing comes from.
Everybody in the United States was just sort of like ingratiated to read this book in high school.
And I'm like, well, I think that's a big factor why people think we're not the noblest when in fact sales is one of the most noble professions.
that can help people.
We can help people change their career, not just the salesperson, but the customer.
When customers make decisions to purchase a certain thing, yes, there's a risk of whether they should make the right choice.
When they do make the right choice, well, that allows them to then be seen with greater value in their company.
It could lead to promotions, it could lead to raises.
So there is this noble piece, this altruistic piece of sales that people
just don't realize you know as as humans i don't you know i like to blame this book on it but i you know i don't know that that's entirely it
Yeah, yeah.
So I think that for me, it's just about being curious and having a curious mind.
It's one of the reasons I really have enjoyed over the years working with millennials and Gen Z is that
it's much easier for them to be curious because they have the power of data in their hand, right?
