I w I wonder Sarah on that how your member companies might respond because is it that's feedback from this research that all the systems are in place and the processes are in place, but when it comes to actual outcomes, there's a nervousness or there's a a a tentativeness from companies.
D is that something you could work on with your member companies?
How w how are and would they respond?
And uh we know that the European Commission at the moment has issued its consultation on the corporate sustainability due diligence directive, C S triple D.
Um and in your answer there you said companies need guidance, want want guidance.
What would you say uh uh companies might respond to that consultation in order to to to get Europe and the European Commission to do the right thing?
Now, uh even in this discussion we've focused a bit on the shortfalls from companies in uh but actually in your research
You give a number of very positive examples about shared responsibility between companies and their suppliers and about the larger companies offering financial incentives or support in order to help their suppliers to drive up their sustainability performance.
Can you give us uh again a uh an introduction to the to that?
So Chris just made the point there that companies shouldn't just use complaints, uh, but that should look more more broadly, which I think is a very important point that companies are
according to your study a bit too much reliant on external complaints um to to to deal with their human rights risks.
But there's a very interesting example in your report about an automotive company
on the issue of remediation, and is everyone who works in business and human rights knows that providing access to remedy where there is some adverse impact or experience is the area that m the world most falls short on.
Uh tell us about that example.
Chris, you've done uh research in human rights due diligence, not just this current study.
You've previously looked at the US Dodd Frank Act, you've looked at France's Devoir divisionals.
Um I can't have you on and not ask you to make some comparison uh between the different human rights due diligence legislation.
Obviously C S triple D, we know the tax, we don't know
yet the the the impact of implementation.
But at that very broad level, how do you compare the different laws certainly in Europe?
