In this podcast, we've heard some pretty mind-bending predictions about the environmental impact of data centres arising from the growth of AI.
We've heard about the successful attempts to keep secrecy around the impacts of individual data centres, but also, Alex said, individual applications.
And at the moment, the benefits of something like large language models are perhaps not clear.
Perhaps the costs are greater than the benefits that have come, he's argued.
We've heard about the danger of data data dumping on Global South.
We've heard about jailbreaking, that was a phrase I didn't know, where AI applications are used for nefarious purposes and have to be withdrawn and how we respond to that.
We discussed the whole issue of autonomous actions by AI applications, loss of control.
And Catherine said it is possible to regulate that, but we're not yet there in doing it.
We heard that this is everyone's responsibility in the company.
uh uh that we have to auto correct against algorithmic bias because it is there you have to recognize it's there and then work backwards from doing it in catherine's words and we heard very interestingly that um uh that
