And of course, there's the whole debate about the impact on employment.
Whole generations of young people now find it very difficult to get entry-level jobs because AI is doing the job for them.
How can we respond to that?
I've referred to this on the podcast before, but I've seen analysis, every industrial revolution destroys jobs, but then builds more later.
But the problem is how much later?
And that's exactly the question that policymakers are facing today.
I think it's important we've touched on all those risks and dangers in AI today.
But Alex, this is the last question to you.
You're a technology specialist.
You've researched technologies, not just AI.
And you've researched cryptocurrencies, blockchain.
And I remember having these discussions three, four, five years ago that these were going to really transform every business and the whole economy and the whole world.
And I think it can be argued they haven't.
They haven't done what we were saying at the time or was being said at the time.
Is it possible that AI is another useful tool in the toolbox, but it's not going to have the grave risk or the transformational opportunities that people are talking about today?
How do you answer that?
