They they they apparently showed a fake device uh that was a bomb or a chemical weapon on one of the flights.
The reason why the news coverage repeatedly said box cutters is because box cutters, which have a blade about this size and sitting in a metal tube literally for opening boxes.
Were specifically permitted to be brought on the planes.
Um and so the FAA to shield itself said they used box cutters.
We don't actually know the box cutters.
But they use blades of some kind.
But given the laxness of airport security and the airports they chose and especially Logan, these could be much longer blades.

Uh so the blade would have to be bigger than a box cutter.

But the box better thing was a bureaucratic way to safeguard and silo itself.
