The landscape holds you like a basket.
Overcome.
There is no abyss, just this immense patience.
Recovery is possible.
Throughout writing the crystal bones, I definitely really loved playing with colour because the crystals are such extraordinary shades.
You know, take an emerald, you know, everyone has different experiences of emeralds, slightly different shades, the way the light hits it.
So, yeah, just being able to play around with green, you know, and that's how I find some of the language here, you know, wild, grass, you know,
And yeah, so I love playing with colour.
Yeah, I mean, it occurs to me I repeat the word emerald quite a lot.
You know, naming the thing I think is really important.
Naming it, making it real, trying to sort of re-see it.
And I think the poem is...
I mean, it's about that kind of attention, looking into, gazing into the crystal and trying to see the huge world that is potentially in the crystal and trying to understand some of the shamanism of the crystal.
I feel like it's kind of almost like an interdimensional being and it gives us the opportunity to kind of unlock or understand different wisdom.
And I think Emerald pointed me towards childhood, you know, towards trying to write a different childhood for myself.
And the little boys in the poem, the little boys themselves in green and made of emerald, more fairy than boy, crystalline, detoxifying, these ones are shining.
Yeah, I guess I'm trying to...
celebrate the boys in this poem and create a different childhood for them.
And in doing so, kind of trying to create a different childhood for myself.
That last line, recovery is possible.
