I think that's a really beautiful response to that.

Yeah, I mean, I guess that is implicit in the title of the still life, life that has been stilled, but life that is...

in some capacity, still alive, you know?

I think of the still life painting almost as a kind of beautiful, ornate, shining ghost, you know?

And because, you know, when you look at a still life painting, you know, whatever the symbols are in there,

if it's an oyster or a rose or a tulip they've been dead for centuries but somehow this representation of them has survived so it's almost like we've got this ornate shining ghost kind of beaming back at us and i do feel that there is some there's knowledge there there's wisdom there and there's life there in spite of the object being literally dead you know

So it's a kind of haunting.

And I think a haunting is a lively thing that is still full of surprising life.

So still life, still live.

Yeah, I think it's, I think I agree.

Yes, I'd love to.

So, yeah, the third section of the book, well, it's in dialogue with crystals.

And I think, you know, it begins with language.

It's another way that the speaker can express themselves through finding the language of crystals, crystal medicine, geology.

And, yeah, it's another way to speak about hurt or trauma.

These crystal bones are also in dialogue with Arthur Rambeau's rosebones illuminations.

And I guess I'm trying to speak to him or kind of channel him almost as a kind of queer ancestor and ask him questions about how the speaker might live and move forward in language and attention.
