if they're paying their employees monthly, they could have had three pay runs.
If they're paying them fortnightly, they could have had six, et cetera, et cetera.
They have to go through and make sure that they're making their super contributions for that period the same way that they already do.
But from the 1st of July, if you've got a pay run that happens from that day onwards, you have to make sure you're complying with the payday super rules.
So you've actually got two lots of outgoings at the same time as far as superannuation goes.
And because of that, businesses who
haven't actually perhaps maybe sat down with their accountant and explored what their cash flow is likely to look like in the new financial year, they could find that they're doubling up on outgoings at the same time with respect to their super contributions.
So businesses that are on top of what their cash flow is going to look like are probably going to find that it's a much easier process in adapting to the new rules once the new financial year comes in.
So, I mean, that's a really good question, Sean, and I think it sort of comes down to how you actually look at this.
So, for example...
We would say ordinarily under any circumstances, there are 26 fortnights to a year.
And those 26 fortnights, of course, obviously, there's a super amount that's payable on that.
Oh, you might have a leap year or something and you might have, you know, sometimes the dates just don't quite match up or something like that.
Look, ordinarily, we would say there's 26 fortnights to a year.
You've got an amount that's due, that accrues on each fortnight currently under the new rules that has to be paid at the end of the quarter.
It's the same amount, basically.
It's just you're kind of splitting it up depending on whether you're paying your employees weekly or fortnightly or monthly.
So it shouldn't, mathematically, it should be the same.
It just happens that because you've got it going out in smaller amounts, some businesses might find this easier to manage because
It just is a smaller outgoing at regular intervals.
