hair trauma from you know my mom used to chase me around the yard you know trying to cut my bangs because I hated the bowl haircut you know it was always crooked so I have trauma of you know these scissors coming at me I know I actually got into this industry one of the things that inspired me and we talked about this and on the show is my stepmother
When I was like 12 years old, she went and got a perm, and she came back, and, you know, it was all big and fluffy, and she took a brush to the top of it, and the whole top came off.

It was like cotton candy, a big thing of cotton candy, and a lawnmower ran over it.
Oh, Jesus.
And so, you know, she cried and cried, and, you know, I helped her nurse her hair back to health by...
putting in little braids.
And then I started putting her color on the root.
You know, I was 13 years old and I said, I don't think you're supposed to put hair color all over like shampoo.

And so I nursed her hair back to health.
