They're barely getting by.
I could really hear this shared feeling of dejection.
And I think we have a clip that we can play.
And I'm sure you've even heard people in your own life talking about just how rough it is right now.
Like I can think of a couple of people I've talked to recently who have been searching for months now.
And they're like folks who are qualified, you know?
Yeah, absolutely.
And a lot of those applications are being sent with the help of AI, which means employers are drowning in resumes and a lot of candidates are feeling invisible from the start.
And then, you know, the process itself has just been very painful.
Hiring timelines have gotten a lot slower and unpredictable.
There are a lot of jobs that are getting put on hold or roles that are quietly disappearing.
And then, you know, going back to the AI of it, a lot of people, a lot of candidates feel like their resumes are being screened by algorithms before a human ever sees them.
So instead of wondering, like, was I not right for this role?
A lot of people are wondering, did anyone even look at me?

You know, both of them, both of the experts I talked to kept coming back to how job hunting is isolating by design and isolation is where a lot of shame starts to crop up.
So find some kind of job search community, whether that's as simple as like a Facebook group or a friend you can apply alongside on laptops, just so you're not trapped inside of your own head and you're reminded of like that what you're going through is in fact a shared experience.
And also a couple other things, you know, the job hunt is not a referendum on your worth.
I think it's easy to turn a rejection into a story we tell ourselves about how we're not good enough.
