You may try to do things so perfectly at work so people don't notice the other things that are going on.
So are you starting to see how it makes perfect sense that perfectionism and ADHD can be so intertwined?
But here's the thing, it can also be hard to see at first.
Now that we're opening the box, we're like, oh, of course it makes sense.
But until you open the box, it can be this hidden thing, this hidden stress that's always there.
Cause like I said, people with perfectionism.
they may not see that they're a perfectionist.
For me, I did not see it till
one of my best friends pointed it out, I just thought I'd do things the right way.
I have high standards.
So it can be very, very sneaky.
And we talked in the introduction that often when you think of somebody who's a perfectionist.
You may think of somebody who's rigid, somebody who dots their I's and crosses their T's.
But I really believe that perfectionism doesn't always look like that.
It can look like that messy closet we talked about because you don't want to organize it if you can't do the whole thing in one go.
And who has time for that?
It can also maybe even look like a work assignment that's turned in late because you want to keep tweaking it, you know?
Maybe it can look like spending three hours on a work assignment that maybe should have taken you twenty minutes because you just keep reworking it and redoing it and trying to make it just so.
So perfectionism doesn't always look like that rigid person.
It could look like somebody who just avoids something or just keeps reworking something that's good enough.
