Actually I think that tips the balance in favor of children so it doesn't seem as

even um and it's also

uh easier to think about if you think about it as, okay, who is going to uh you know, think about rules that you would want to be in play, this is what you want your parents to have abided by and this is what you will abide by.

So that's the kind of intrapersonal conflict.

So you pick

appropriate of principle and then you assume that you're even though the in reality this is not possible because you sadly are already born, but you would assume that your parents, you know, what what rules would be fair for your you know, what would you want your parents to have abided by, and then what rules you will abide by as a prospective um parent.

So the motivation restriction um is a restriction on procreation procreative motiv motivation that says the m it must be motivated by the desire and intention to raise, love and nurture your child when it's born.

Um because if we value self respect, which is a something that we ha has high value uh in terms of procreative goods.

um there's something that's s sort of necessary to a life of human flourishing because if we don't have self respect, why would we even care about our own good?

So um we want to be treated in order to have self res self respect, I think you have to be treated as a self worthy of respect in your own right.

And if somebody is having if if somebody is having is having a child in a way that's not motivated, um

by by the intention b to uh the desire and intention to raise love and nurture the child once it's born, then it would it would threaten baseline threshold level of self respect because it's not treating people uh as separate self.

For example, if you're gonna have a child to generate help on the family farm or for social or to improve your social status.

Um, that's not treating the child as a separate self enti you know, um valuable for her own sake.

It seems instrument to treat the child more instrumentally for some other purpose.

And that threatens, I think, self respect because in order to have self respect you have to be treated as a self so that you have a self to respect.

So I think it's pretty motivationally compelling.
