And here we are going ahead and and deliberately creating a child.
And most of the time people want to have children for that period of time where the relationship is the most unequal.
Um and so, you know, that's kind of puzzling and that, you know, we think of uh and and children sort of kind of suck up all our of our time so we have no time to do other benevolent things.
And so there are these other puzzles that crop up
when you try to think about procreation that also should give us moral pause.
But generally speaking, I think it's terrible that people don't think about this
with more moral seriousness and I think some of the reason is because
the model for what kind of an act it is has not been made
Clear.
And so that's one of the things I tried to do in this book.
Because
Well, I'm I'm actually in the middle of a couple of other papers right now.
One is uh I'm writing about death and uh the nature of death, um, which is not directly related um and some things on meaning.
So those are sort of the other areas that I'm thinking about.
But I am writing p a paper on um
procreative a asymmetrical attitudes toward procreation.
Um some are
considered problematic and I don't think they're problematic like the idea that you are
you know, you're not obligated to have a a happy child, but you're obligated not to have a miserable child.
There's a lot of ink spilled on that, which I think is kind of almost comical because it's such a non problem in my view.
