So that to me is the stronger argument for why it's not um
adding value, but also because it's not why people do it.
It's just not an accurate um description of the motivation.
I don't think most pe I think it's very uncommon to say, I'm having a child because I want to add value to the world.
Right.
And so and and it also doesn't sound like a way you the reason you wanted to have, you know, a person would have wanted their parents to have decided to have them.
You know, oh my parents wanted to add value to the world, so they had me.
It's like why don't they just, you know, I don't know, build a homeless shelter instead.
It's very impersonal, um uh and not like the kind of it's not sort of relationship based.

I I think a lot of people's sort of initial or intuitive um reactions or thoughts about procreation
are temperament based.
I've come to discover that or to think that way after talking to many, many people.
You'd be surprised how widespread this idea that life is a gift is.
Um there are a lot of happy people out there.
I don't know exactly why or what they have in mind.

Nagel says this when he talks about death, he says, you know, life is good even when it's bad, it's good.
