But pretty soon he's calling around, trying to figure out where the hell Jack went.
He buzzes Trent, that's Jack and Chris's work supervisor, and he says, nah, I haven't seen Jack.
Chris also messages Carly, Jack's now ex-girlfriend, and she says she hasn't seen him either.
Chris even heads back to the Wandai house, Kid and Twyla's place, where they'd scored the drugs from.
no.
Then, around midday, Chris heads back to Danielle's place.
Not to patch things up, but to move Jack's car.
Now, this might sound a bit sus.
Why would Chris have Jack's car keys?
Well, according to Chris, when Jack met up with him the day before, Jack left his car at Danielle's so that the two of them could drive around town in Chris's car.
And he left his keys in the passenger side footwell of Chris's car for safekeeping.
So Chris does what Danielle asked him to do and he goes and moves Jack's car away from Danielle's place.
By this point, he says he feels horrible.
Not only is Jack missing, but his original plan to spend the Friday night with his kids has gone down the toilet.
And he doesn't know when he'll next see his family.
What Chris says he does next answers one of the other persistent questions people have about one of the clues which Jack left behind.
His hat.
The one that was located by police days after he disappeared, near a church in Mergan.
Chris says he can explain, and he tells me he found it in his car that morning when he went to pick his dog up from Danielle's place.
