In lots of ways at its core, my reason for looking into Jack's story is pretty simple.
I'm a journalist, and he disappeared in my patch.
But when it comes to Faith, she lives in Tasmania and up until Jack disappeared, she had no connection with him or his family.
So how did a woman living across the other side of the country become so invested in his disappearance?
Faith first got looped in by Jack's dad, who lives near her in Tassie.
Jack had been missing for more than two months by that point, and she hadn't heard anything about the case on the news.
The story instantly struck a nerve, because just four years earlier, Faith had lost her own son when he was run over by a car driven by his girlfriend.
