Do you think Justin would be proud of the way that you and the club have handled it since June?
Because...
Ling was one of the guest speakers at the PFA's Mental Health and Wellbeing Conference at St George's Park at the start of October.
A survey of current players showed there were still concerns that opening up about mental illness would lead to them being dropped or viewed as weak.
I put this to right.
Again, to ask your opinion, because I know it's very difficult to collectively speak for footballers, but in terms of going through, whether it's grief or depression or anxiety, would there still be a fear that if you went to someone at a club, that that might mean you're not playing on Saturday?
Obviously the club have helped each other through this, whether it be the players, the club chaplain, Martin.
Is there enough help within the game as a whole for players who might be struggling, do you think?
Those PFA figures showed 544 members that accessed therapy in 2019 so far, compared to just 160 in 2016.
And Link believes there is still more for the game to do to improve both treatment and prevention.
Would you be concerned if this was to ever happen to another club, that everything was in place and that their approach to mental health was the same and their approach to dealing with grief was the same?
People are getting better about talking about it and there is less stigma, but are there also more threats?
You look at what players are subjected to on social media these days and you've been a manager as well.
You maybe get one or two games before people start asking questions.
It's three months since Maurizio Pochettino has been in a Champions League final and people are now asking questions about him.
I think people who haven't played the game think it's easy and it's a great life to be a player or a manager, but there are a lot of threats to your well-being, to use that word.
It would appear that there is an ever-growing list of threats to a player's mental health and wellbeing in this modern, social media-dominated world, and McEnough believes that is something supporters must continue to be aware of.
And do you think, again, hating to infer that you're getting old, Joby, but that pressure and the strain on your mental well-being has changed even since you started growing up and you see what social media can do now, whether it's criticising your performance, whether it's
still in 2019, you know, racist abuse or abuse of any other sort of nature, that actually the more the world moves on, the more problems there are for footballers?
Maybe more for praise than criticism, was it?
