This is a senator who really made his imprint on Washington, on American foreign policy over decades.
And so there are going to be numerous U.S.
lawmakers who are going to be there.
Of course, Trump administration officials, former administration officials, and some foreign leaders coming into town, including most notably Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
It just speaks to the outsized power that Lindsey Graham had.
He was seen widely as the quote unquote Trump whisperer of Capitol Hill.
He is going to be held in the rotunda of the Capitol building.
That's a private event that many lawmakers, foreign leaders can go to.
And then he will be going up to the National Cathedral.
It's going to be a big ceremony honoring his life and legacy, but also in a way, a big, basically diplomatic conference.
You've got President Trump, all of these U.S.
lawmakers, some foreign leaders.
And after that, he will be transferred down to South Carolina, his home state, to be laid to rest there.
Lindsey Graham represented this hawkish view of defending American allies, of stepping up pressure on adversaries like Russia and China and Iran, and played a really influential role in advising Trump in the run up to this current war with Iran.
There's a real sense that the mood in America is shifting on Israel.
There used to be this almost untouchable bipartisan support for Israel.
That's changed.
And with Graham dying, it's just another sense of, is this era in U.S.-Israeli relationship, is that a thing of the past?
Are these types of hawkish pro-Israel lawmakers, are they dying out?
And Graham's funeral is going to be another stark reminder to proponents of the U.S.-Israeli ties that this is a very worrying trend line for them in the future.
