And as we have our first FDA approval and with investigational medicines behind it,
we hope to be defining of how that innovation can benefit patients.
So I do think it remains an unsolved problem as to how to do a better job to address not only cardiac issues,
co-morbidities, we still confront a situation where amongst Medicare patients, heart disease is the number one driver of clinical, societal, and economic burden.
But we also have a situation where the population is aging longer and living longer with cardiac conditions.
So it's incumbent upon us to understand more how to make a dent in the universe.
And the clinical communities are understanding this at the same time that scientific innovation is driving new opportunities.
And I do believe
that where we've made as an industry huge, tremendous progress in other conditions, that's still largely elusive in cardiac medicine.
And I think a perfect storm is brewing as companies like Sotokinetics and others that I previously mentioned are now coming onto the scene.
Where we still have major gaps,
is outside of academic centers and tertiary care centers, there are huge inequities, especially in rural communities, in terms of quality and access to care.
And that's where I think we need to be thinking not only about genetic code, but zip code in terms of how we ensure equitable access to these new medicines as well.
Yeah, so may I first say that this is not something that you do abruptly, but it's been part of our planning from day one.
And I don't say that with hyperbole, I mean it.
We've always...
identified programs we should work on scientifically as ones that could be cohesive to a commercial rationale in addition to a therapeutic hypothesis and where we could not only pioneer and lead, but hopefully dominate.
So we've been building out our commercial infrastructure all along the way.
global marketing, new product planning, market research, and positioning have been hallmarks of how we engage scientifically and in clinical research.
And hence, with now an approved medicine, we are plug and play on things that have been in the planning stages for many, many years.
