Well, here's the thing.

I had a fat 10 years in Hollywood.

before I ever did Freddy.

And in that 10 years, I did a dozen movies and starred in half of them.

And he would be checking his stock market.

And he also would tear out dialogue, you know, and keep it real simple.

Of course.

And parse his lines down to smaller, clean lines of dialogue.

And also I watched him and he would reach, he would practice reaching for a prop.

So he didn't have to look at it when he went to get it.

And he'd measure it off.

And in a way, he moved and rehearsed his physical stuff like a dancer.

He wasn't big.

He was compact.

But he moved beautifully, like Lee Marvin moves beautifully.

Or Kevin Bacon moves really well and interesting.

Or old John Wayne had that great...
