That's for a reason.

There's a sort of ongoing debate about the evils of the British Empire, the perceived evils.

I mean, the fact is that at a time when lots of countries were spreading their wings around the world, Britain was doing it largely by dint of having a very successful navy, and the net result is.

That you know, large parts of the earth speak English.

And at the time that was done in the name of the crown.

And to this day, the head of state of this country is the head of state with the biggest footprint on earth.

I mean, the king is a uh a head of state of more of the earth's surface than you know, President X or Vladimir Putin or anyone else, by dint of being also king of Canada and Australia and New Zealand and Papua New Guinea and 15 countries in total.

I i it's it's the crown is a is is a very uh sort of unique among the monarchies in the world.

Um there are um there are twenty seven I think it is monarchs in the world.

Um but the one that that that you know, the one that doesn't really need an introduction when you say the queen or the king, you know, I think most people assume you're talking about this one.

It absolutely was.

I mean, the only reason I got through the door of Mar-a-Lago is because I was there to talk to him about the Queen.

I mean, as a British journalist, I wouldn't have got near the place.

But uh, you know, we had a slightly dicey start when he sort of asked me if I was going to play golf.

I said, I don't play golf.

He went, you don't play golf when you're British?

What?

Um, but we I said, well, we're here to talk about uh the late Queen because he was the last state visitor.
