So the biggest driver of violent populism is in the United States is a demographic shift. matched

For the first time in our country's 250-year history, the United States is transitioning from a white majority democracy to a white minority democracy. matched

In 1990, we were 76% non-Hispanic white as a population. matched

Today, we're 57% non-Hispanic white. matched

In about 15, could be 20 years, depending on deportations, and now you can see why deportations matter so much, is when we'll be 49% non-Hispanic white as a people. matched

Now, that demographic shift, just to be clear, this is all happening now in this tipping point generation. matched

It's not the case. matched

If you look back all the way to 1776, we have been essentially between 80% and 85% white as a people going all the way back in that period of time. matched

So it's not like this has ebbed and flowed. matched

Well, this demographic shift is matched

is of tremendous political importance, Chris, because it dramatically impacts which of the political parties are going to win. matched

The Republican political party is much more heavily white than the Democratic party. matched

It dramatically influences the composition of those parties. matched
