If you started in 2015, absolutely, it's going to be maybe not a majority from the left, but very heavily balanced left and right. matched

And so the truth is that it's a matter of the timeframe. matched

That means the nature of political violence in our country has changed over the last 10 years. matched

We're not in the same era we were in in the 1990s. matched

And that new era dates pretty much to the beginning of President Trump's first term. matched

much of the violence since then, not 100% of course, but much of the violence, as you correctly said, is either pro-Trump or it's sort of anti-anti. matched

So you had a nice way to really see that as President Trump came into office, he represented a tremendous angst about a certain set of social changes that I'd like to explain. matched

But just as he was representing angst about those social changes, there were others who felt increasing angst that Trump was going to reverse those changes and send them back. matched

That is what you're describing as there is the anti-Trump matched

There's the anti-Trump and the anti-anti. matched

That's right, because at the root of it is not just a personality. matched

There are issues related to political rhetoric, absolutely. matched

I've spent years studying that. matched

But that is the second level. matched

The first level, Chris, what's determining why we're in the era of violent populism now— matched

as opposed to 20 years ago or 20 years from now, is that we're in the tipping point of certain social changes that are happening to our country. matched
