There is and I mean I think you hit on something really important there, which is Scott Bessant in buying back US debt, and he did something else. matched

You talked about Japan, he did something else that was really quite remarkable, which is in order to help the Japanese strengthen the yen, this happened a few weeks ago, but it was really striking. matched

Facilitate the sale of US assets to strengthen, because I mean he is American after all, he's the US Treasury Secretary. matched

What America did, which was bizarre, was they sold Euro-denominated government debt rather than American government debt to strengthen the yen. matched

And so what this led investors to say in both cases, both the way that he's buying back, you know, dollar assets and selling other assets other than the dollar, is he matched

He is obviously deeply worried of you know declining confidence in the dollar, in dollar assets. matched

Um and of course that then has, for some investors, precisely the opposite effect that he wants. matched

And, you know, I'm afraid all of everything that's going on does just remind me of the kind of sort of weirdness that I have seen leading up to other crashes. matched
