And so these are these are criticisms then that um
Aim to show not merely that
democracy as we know it is messy and inefficient.
And but actually that there are features of electoral democracy, particularly because when we're talking about electoral democracy, you're also talking about democracy that is run by way of campaigning.
That um that these are the these are the the the the election and the therefore the campaign is a um is these are instruments
that are actual that actually have anti or or non-democratic sort of uh fallout.
Um they privilege elites, uh people with money, and so the ideal of
Um democracy being ruled by the people or self government.
Um
th the election actually sort of um uh uh undercut some of that.
Is that right?
Right.

Um lays out in uh great detail.
um your own proposal uh for what the uh the version of democracy without elections that you call autocracy.
Um there as we had mentioned um a little bit earlier, you know, there are lots of different
views about how um sortition might be used in place of elections to uh uh repair some of uh these features of electoral democracy or to avoid some of the problems with electoral democracy.
Um but unlike these other proposals which seek to fulfil fulfill familiar kinds of public office by random selection, um your version uh of Lotocracy uh invokes um single issue legislators or or legislatures, sorry.
Um can you tell us a bit about uh uh your your version of this idea?
