And that's when the ball started rolling, taking a closer look at who he was.
Well, there's a lot of next steps and let's make sure this is very clear.
Just because he was a
identified client doesn't mean he was our killer.
With all due respect to the occupation that they were doing, they had several clients.
This just happened to be one client, but didn't necessarily say that he was our killer.
But the one thing that we did do is start taking a deeper dive into Rick's room, see what his whereabouts were, what he did outside of work, outside of being
a husband, outside of being a father.
And we started looking at internet searches and we started looking at his credit card use.
And we started looking at a host of other things regarding going on websites to engage with sex workers.
And we just started seeing some real disgusting things based upon the subpoenas that we were able to get with the work with Ray Tierney and get a little bit of a better understanding of
what type of person is Rex Sherman?
And is this somebody that could possibly be our killer?
Now, the one thing that might've threw us off is that Rex Sherman was never arrested, never assaulted anybody, never locked up for patronizing a prostitute, anything else like that.
So that's where there was no confirmation that this is our person.
The only thing that we did have
He was a client.
We started looking more into a lot of his habits and started seeing some of his deviant behavior to say, you know, this is somebody that we may have to eventually get some DNA from and see if we can match it to some of the DNA that was collected off the discovered bodies.
Yeah, just raping of women, torturing of people.
Listen, everything is in the affidavit, but just raping and torturing of different types of people, how to commit a homicide and get away with it, serial killers, and a host of other very, very creepy things based upon his internet searches.
