I actually believe that's one of the main reasons why he hired or nominated me to be the police commissioner, because he knew I had that investigative experience and background in the NYPD.

And there were some very, very talented applicants for the police commissioner spot.

But I think he nominated me because his main focus was he wanted this Gilgo Beach case to be

Put it on the front burner.

I'll continue to use that phrase.

And I think in the past, there was a lot of a lot of pushback.

And one of the things that I saw that the FBI was helping out with the Gilgo Beach investigation and they were thrown off the case.

And when I reached out to them, eventually, there was a high level of reluctancy.

He said, we don't want to work with you guys over there because you guys are not sharing the case files.

You're not letting us help out with whatever investigative steps needed to be done.

And that came from certain things that happened prior to me getting there, which scratched my head.

Well, I will say this.

I do not know.

I never looked into why they were booted off the case.

But there's two things there.

The first thing is, once I heard that, I started wondering.

There was a lot of speculation that people in Suffolk County Police Department might have been involved with this.

I didn't want to believe it.

But once I heard that the FBI was kicked off the case, it made me start to wonder, what am I getting myself into?
