The the yields are down a little bit.
They're reacting to um the fact that uh despite the fact that you did have uh some dissenters, uh Governor Bailey was kind of at pains to stress that um almost like saying, Don't worry about them the the majority of us think that there there's no case here to be to be made for any imminent uh hikes.
Um and then you've seen that reaction in the front end of the curve.
Um
and the the market's sort of pushing out a little bit of delay in the expectations for for rate hikes in in the US.
Um
Uh and in particular I I think the emphasis on that was that um like we were saying earlier, everybody's kind of looking for the any evidence of second round effects and and and although there there is always a lag between those second round effects at the moment, uh at least in the UK, that there's nothing to see there that uh is worrying at least the majority within the Bank of England.
So hence why that's still
kind of comfortable to to to stay on a wait and see mode.
Well, Saley was saying that, you know, please do not leave this room thinking that the Bank of England's edging towards a hike.
Right.
Because frankly, there's nothing in what I said and I think any of us said to those lines.
Yeah, I would say mostly good.
Um and the interesting sort of stuff, uh particularly when for instance when we look at um how currencies or how we expect currency to perform, um the the big kind of theme at the start of the war and s uh was that uh the US economy was showing a great deal of resilience.
Economic surprises uh ke kept on being positive in the sense that the US kept on sort of uh
Delivering better than what the market was expecting.
Um, but more recently we're starting to see that dynamic happen in Europe and now it's been reinforced by the outcome that we're seeing in the Q2 GDP number.
So from a currency perspective, um uh it's important to highlight that because it's actually providing a little bit of support to to the euro and and now we're starting to see a little bit of many people starting to think, well, maybe the euro can actually start performing better.
Uh and certainly the the data will be supportive for that.
Yeah, so uh the cynics will probably highlight that uh it's probably quite a good time.
